On September 3rd, the grand military parade once again captured the attention of millions across China. From the steel columns of tanks to the soaring air fleets, every piece of equipment carried the same mark: Made in China, In Service, Independently Developed.

From the early days when imported arms filled the stage to today’s complete localization, this transformation is not just about equipment renewal—it is the path of a nation rising to strength. The same spirit that fuels a strong military also inspires resilient enterprises: true confidence comes only from mastering core technologies.

This belief runs through every field of industry. In advanced manufacturing, materials science, and energy-saving solutions, countless companies are pushing boundaries with the same determination. Earthmother is one of these living examples.

The Earthmother Story: Warmth with Vision

Founded in 2005, Earthmother started with building energy-saving technologies and soon rooted itself deeply in insulation materials.

In 2012, when underfloor heating was still in its early stage with uneven standards, Earthmother took the lead by launching the first integrated solutions for underfloor heating base materials, setting the industry on the path toward standardization, branding, and integration.

We then pioneered the industry’s first XPS board made with all-new eco-friendly raw materials, replacing recycled plastics and setting a benchmark for safety and sustainability. Step by step, our R&D expanded to include fiberglass mesh, PET medical-grade reflective films, food-grade inks, and more—together forming the complete Earthmother Tacker System insulation solutions that bring safety, sustainability, and comfort into millions of homes.

In 2017, we invested heavily in Italian production lines and launched the SMART-EU series. Yet real innovation means adapting to local needs. By refining designs for Chinese households, we created the SMART-CN series, perfectly aligned with local living environments.

Beyond underfloor heating, we have also developed comprehensive energy-saving enclosure systems for floors, roofs, and walls—transforming building efficiency from “single-point breakthroughs” to “system-level upgrades.”

Innovation Backed by Research and Standards

Today, Earthmother holds over 90 patents, and partners with leading universities such as Tongji University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, and Beijing Technology and Business University. We have led the drafting of several industry standards, including the latest National Standard for XPS Insulation Systems.

Our products have been trusted in major national projects like the Tibet People’s Hall, Qinghai–Tibet Railway, Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, and the Shanghai Expo Center, and have also entered more than 30 million households. Every year, we sell over 12 million sqm of insulation materials to more than 40 countries and regions. Over the past decade, our work has contributed to reducing 600,000 tons of carbon emissions.

Breaking Global Barriers: The PPO Leap

PPO (polyphenylene oxide) is a high-performance engineering plastic known as a new-generation strategic material. Yet for decades, its high-temperature, high-viscosity foaming challenge prevented large-scale industrial application worldwide.

In 2023, Earthmother, in collaboration with SABIC and Beijing Technology and Business University, launched a breakthrough project: Industrialization of Continuous Supercritical Extrusion Foaming of PPO Boards.

By March 2025, this technology passed authoritative evaluation by the China National Light Industry Council and the China Plastics Processing Industry Association. The expert committee, chaired by Academician Jian Xigao of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, concluded:

• The project reached internationally advanced levels.
• Its continuous PPO foaming process stands at the global forefront.

For the first time, Earthmother has brought China to the front line of global materials innovation.
