Setting a New Industry Standard | Earthmother Co-authors the New XPS National Standard, Effective April 1

On April 1, 2025, the new national standard GB/T 30595-2024, "Extruded Polystyrene (XPS) System Materials for Building Insulation," co-authored by Earthmother, will officially come into effect. This milestone marks a significant step towards greater standardization and professionalism in the building insulation industry, providing authoritative guidance for technological advancements and quality improvements.

A New Benchmark for the Industry

Against the backdrop of rapid development in building energy efficiency and insulation materials, the national standard GB/T 30595-2024 was introduced. This standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee for Building Components Standardization and supervised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. Led by the China Plastics Processing Industry Association, the revision process was a collaborative effort involving Earthmother and other industry-leading enterprises. The new standard comprehensively optimizes performance requirements, testing methods, and application scopes for XPS materials, replacing the previous GB/T 30595-2014 standard on XPS thin plastered external wall insulation system materials.

As a key contributor, Earthmother leveraged its outstanding R&D capabilities, extensive practical experience, and long-established industry influence to actively participate in the discussion and formulation of the standard. This ensures that the new standard is more scientific, reasonable, and practical, guiding the industry toward a more standardized, healthy, and sustainable future. Earthmother’s involvement in this initiative not only underscores its leading position in the building insulation sector but also demonstrates its commitment to advancing industry standardization.

Key Highlights of the New XPS National Standard

1. Expanded Application Scope

  • 2024 Version: The new standard extends its coverage to include system materials for precast concrete sandwich insulation exterior walls, floor insulation systems, and roofing insulation systems.

  • 2014 Version: Previously limited to XPS thin plastered external wall insulation system materials used in residential buildings.

·

2. Stricter Material Specifications

  • 2024 Version:
    • Performance requirements are differentiated based on various application scenarios, with some criteria becoming more stringent to meet diverse needs.
    • Clear specifications on testing procedures, including an increase in required test indicators from 6+ additional items (2014 version) to 10 key indicators.

  • 2014 Version: Relatively lenient material requirements without strict adherence to testing standards.

3. Enhanced Testing Methods

  • 2024 Version: Test methods are explicitly defined according to national standards, ensuring more reliable and credible results.

  • 2014 Version: Some test methods were specific to the previous standard, limiting their applicability.

Driving Green Innovation for Energy-Efficient Living

With the implementation of GB/T 30595-2024, the building insulation industry is set to embrace wider application fields, stricter safety standards, and higher environmental requirements. For property owners, this translates to superior building quality, enhanced safety performance, significant energy savings, extended durability, and lower long-term maintenance costs. Future residents can look forward to more comfortable, secure, and energy-efficient living environments.

As a leader in green building solutions, Earthmother recognizes that co-authoring a national standard is not only an honor but also a responsibility. Moving forward, we will continue investing in R&D to enhance the performance and environmental sustainability of XPS system materials. Additionally, we will strengthen industry collaboration, working closely with upstream and downstream enterprises to drive technological upgrades in building energy-saving materials.

Earthmother remains committed to delivering higher-quality services, offering comprehensive energy-efficient building solutions, and helping households create sustainable, low-carbon living spaces.
